Rockshox Fork Line 2010
Both myself and Roy were lucky enough to be invited to the Fisher Expo Show down in Sopwell House, St Albans, This show has to be to show of all shows based in a plush country hotel and with Fishers bagging some of the most desirable Bike products on the market we were both excited about getting down and seeing some products, We arrived on the eve of the show and enjoyed a evenings entertainment and meal with the show getting off to a fantastic start, We were lucky enough to be sat at the back with some good guys from Fishers who kept our wine glasses full and the entertainment was fun yet informative, We were subjected to a talk from one of the cyclehub guys which was informative yet the whole evening was entertaining and fun, Fishers explained and had interviews with some of there sponsored riders including Steve Peat and Dan Stanbridge and the company came across as the forward thinking concern and a leader in the Cycle Supply Industry I have always thought they have the capability of being. After the meal the gloves came off and one of the highlights of the evening was Me vs Roy on Downhill Domination. We retired after a great night and both myself and Roy were looking forward to the next day and getting to see some products.
We awoke a little late and a little hungover after the night before and rushed down to breakfast, After a good feed up we got our teeth in at the show and made a start in the Norco Room, Although this is a brand we used to sell and I personally think they offer fantastic value for money we stopped dealing with them 2 years ago after the UK supplier of the bikes at that time stopped dealing with Norco HQ.

Norco 2010 Range
Fishers have added to the range and both price point and specifications on the bikes looked very good, also the BMX range was impressive with a good line up from a base model through to a quality branded BMX

watch this space maybe with Norco….
We soon moved on to the SRAM room which was one of the main highlights for myself and Roy, It had all the SRAM component product ranges including Rockshox Forks, Avid Brakes, Truvativ Components as well as the SRAM gear components

Truvativ Noir Cranks

Avid Elixir Disc Brake Systems

Truvativ Handlebbars and Boxxer Stems
We both were impressed with the new line up of kit , 2010 Rockshox looks fantastic with a great range of All Mountain Forks as well as impressive range of Downhill/Freeride Suspension Equipment, The Truvativ equipment range which personally I think goes from strength to strength looked great with new products such as the BooBar, Truvativ Direct Mount Boxxer Stems, Holzfeller Equipment including Cranks, Handlebars, Stems as well as the XC/AM Line up with the exotic Carbon Noir Handlebars and Seatposts. Top this off with both Avid Disc Brakes the complete line up of Avid Elixir brake range and obviously the crown SRAM firing on both MTB and Road Equipment. The New Sram XX 10 Speed Mountain Bike Gear looked fantastic

SRAM XX 10 Speed MTB Cassette
As with SRAM owning all the branded companys listed above they have made a complete groupset across the brands with XX and this includes a specific brake based on the Avid Elixir Brake

Avid/SRAM XX Brakeset
A Chainset based on the Truvativ Noir Chainset but refined and Lighter

Truvativ Noir XX Chainset
And specific XC Fork based on the Sid WC but featuring a Hydraulic Lockout facilty

Rockshox Sid XX Fork
After visiting the dreamland we moved on to some of the new specific Fisher Brands that have been brought on board with both Kaboom and Kansai, Fishers are quite obviously promoting both with Kaboom offering a fantastic De-Greaser Range in a slick package and at a better price point to the Market Leader Muc-Off, and due to industry changes Fishers lost the Dahon (Folding Bike Manufacturer) Brand late last year so to combat this they have launched their own range of custom design Folding Bike under the brand Kansi, These look seriously impressive and they are offering a complete range including a personalisation kit for every bike with will included coloured grip ends and custom stickers.

We finished the day off in the Troy Lee Section of the show with some impressive kit including the new Troy Lee D3 DH Helmet, This has been completley re-designed and features improved venting as well as massively beefed up protection over the standard D2 Model.

All in all the show was a complete success from a dealers insight, Fishers upheld their premium place in the Cycling Industry and with some fantastic events at the show such as seminars and informed members of staff on hand to help with query’s and offer information as required. 2010 BOXXER TEAM: Long Term Test Part 1

BOXXER TEAM MY10
Please Note: I am neither Pro, or National level rider material, and the below review is done on the basis of what the average rider will find “Out of the box” so to speak.
After all the nasty experiences i have read from various forum’s and websites over the last 6 month’s, i have got to admit i was a little apprehensive of what i would find, or hear as the case seems to have been with the 1st production run of forks i.e.Coils reported to be clanging around, and the wrong levels of oil, and the fact some were sent out completely dry. I opened the box with my excited little digits and was immediately struck by the aesthetic differences..They are beautiful, and light in comparison to my 05 Races(Yeh yeh i know there as old as me).
I immediately downloaded the Tuning guide from the SRAM/Rockshox Tech site and began to set all the relevant knobs to there recommended settings for my weight. I will add at this point that i weigh 165lb, and sit right in the middle of the recommended spring rate, so i decided to leave as is for now.
I mounted them to my ride and began to cycle them through their travel a few times. There was what i would describe as a high level of stiction present, but only the same amount as i found with the 2010 FOX 40 RC2 we originally installed in the 2010 EVIL Revolt.
After 10-20 mins of playing around in the street, i found the stiction had noticebly subsided and they felt much better, but still far from perfect. I will add, at this point that all the adjusters feel to be of a much higher standard than previous models, and every click i made on each selector was noticeable (Which is a good start) but it may take you some tinkering to find the response you are looking for.
Due to a fresh downfall of Snow, i have yet to ride them on track, and have read that the fork’s will require approx 10 hour’s riding to bed in. As soon as the weather give’s us a break i will report what we find over varying settings/terrain.
I’m excited, and confident that Rockshox have solved the issues so many of you found with the early releases and look forward to putting them through their paces over the coming months.
Also look out for Wayne’s report on his 2010 World cup’s which we will do in one article, as they have already been in situe on his Iron Horse Sunday for the past month or so.
Thank’s for reading,
Roy
